Brief description of the project

Next we include a brief description of the works corresponding to the project, from Phase I (financed with Cohesion Funds) to Phase II (not financed with Cohesion Funds due to the time schedule of implementation of the buildings:

Phase I of the Project of New Port Facilities in Punta Langosteira consists on the builiding of a floating dock of 3,360 metres long, a dock of 900 lineal metres (with a draught of 16-22 metres), and the building of an open area and its land accesses by connecting the road to the industrial area of Sabon nearby.
Four berths aimed at discharging crude oil will be added by different concessionaires.

In Phase II a seawall (martillo) attached to the main dock will be built in order to optimise port operations during the calls. This second Phase is integrated by a seawall of prefabricated concrete drawers, located to 230 metres since the beginning of the jetty head and parallel to it, 390.90 metres long. On the other hand, this Phase also includes those operations necessary to carry out the quarry restoration, as it is necessary to do it once all extractions are finished, including those extractions corresponding to the seawall.

The final dock will have a surface of 230 hectares of sheltered water and 143 hectares de port yard (91 of them will be land that has been reclaimed from the sea).
